Koh Phi Phi Leh — Thailand
Ancient walls,
living legend
Carved into the sheer limestone cliffs of Phi Phi Leh, Viking Cave is one of Thailand’s most mysterious and culturally significant sites. Its soaring rock walls are covered in ancient paintings — believed to be left by seafarers centuries ago — giving the cave its legendary name.
Today, the cave is home to thousands of swiftlets whose nests are harvested by local workers scaling bamboo poles to dizzying heights. A rare glimpse into a centuries-old tradition, visible only from the water.
